To best serve the health goals and concerns of our clients, our massage therapists have been trained in several massage techniques. Below is a list and brief description of each technique.
- Swedish Massage – Most common and well known technique. Five basic strokes, flowing towards the heart, energize the body and promote stress reduction and increase relaxation.
- Deep Tissue Massage – Application of deep focused pressure, compression, and kneading of muscles to reduce adhesions and trigger points. Helps with chronic pain and injury rehabilitation. It is generally integrated with other massage techniques.
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage – A very specialized technique to reduce edema and swelling. Light pressure to encourage the movement of lymphatic fluid. Enhances the activity of the immune system.
- Craniosacral Therapy – Gentle noninvasive way to enhance the function of the craniosacral system. Encourages the natural healing processes of the body. The practitioner uses a light touch to assist the movement of cereberio spinal fluid in the craniosacral system.
- Reflexology – Involves the manipulation of specific reflex areas in the feet, hands and ears that correspond to other parts of the body.This technique is used to reduce pain and increase relaxation.
- Raindrop Technique – Originated by D. Gary Young, antimicrobial essential oils of seven different plants are applied along the spine and massaged into the tissue around the vertebrae. A warm compress increases the absorption into the tissue.
- Hot Stone Massage – Basalt stones of various sizes are heated and used during massage to soften connective tissue. This provides a nurturing and therapeutic effect.
- Thai Massage – Full body treatment that focuses on passive assisted stretching combined with pressure point massage to improve flexibility, range of motion and release blocked energy. Traditionally done on a special mat on the floor with the client wearing loose clothing.
- Thai Herbal Compress Massage - Thai Hot Stem massage incorporates therapeutic herbs combined in a muslin compress. The compress is then steamed to release the healing properties of the herbs. The compress is applied to the body relieving muscle tension, promoting healing of strains and sprains. Enjoy aroma, herbal and thermal therapy combined in one remarkable session.
